There’s nothing like the smell of fresh mulch in the spring. Now that April showers are over, it’s time to spruce up your house for the real estate selling season. Getting your house ready to sell or even just to entertain summer guests extends to the exterior of your home. Most of the time cleaning, decluttering, and staging ideas only cover the interior of houses. It’s always a good idea update your curb appeal. This spring we are focusing on mulch, walkways, and exterior lighting for our own homes and we want to share our top tips.
Mulch – Pick your favorite color and use mulch to define your garden beds from your lawn. Fresh much elevates your landscaping. Top tip – don’t be stingy with the mulch, pile it on and then next year you can “turn it” for a refresh.
Walkways – Brick, paver, or just a simple path to your front door is the first thing that sets the tone for your house. Fix loose bricks and fill in around paver stones. For a simple path, “edging” will make it stand out. Top tip – buy a new colorful, large entry mat for your door.
Outdoor Lighting – Replace outdated or weather-worn fixtures and look for some landscape lighting to give your house a “glow-up” at twilight. Top tip – we love ground uplighting to accent front trees.
We can’t wait to follow our own advice and refresh our outdoor spaces. If you want more information on any of our tips or just want to ask us about curb appeal, feel free to reach out!
