Who doesn’t like a refreshing swim on a sweltering hot summer day? Since the 1990s the popularity of pools in Vermont has soared, much like the temperatures. Why have Vermonters warmed up to the idea of installing pools or paying more for a house that already has a pool?
We have analyzed this trend and here’s what we found:
- Cleaning a pool is easier – think “Roomba” vacuum for your pool, a cordless robot pool vacuum scoots around while you sip on your favorite beverage.
- Pool covers keep out debris when you're not using the pool - splurge on a solar blanket reel with remote control to conserve heat and help slow evaporation.
- Heaters are key – extend your pool season by a few months.
- Hire a pool company to open and close your pool – beside the obvious convenience, your pool company will make sure you are up-to-date on maintenance and care.
Still on the fence? You may want to test the waters before taking the plunge into pool ownership. Check out your town’s public pool or look for a home in a neighborhood with a community pool as an amenity.
